welcome to

our parish

Fr. Sharp’s vision continues here at St. Symphorosa.   Our current generation of members join with those of the past in striving to build an experience of Church that is welcoming, mission-oriented and Christ centered.   We are a diverse faith community who welcomes men and women, people of all races and ethnicities, young and old, rich and poor, searchers and seekers, and those looking for their place within the church.   We are gifted by your presence.

St. Symphorosa Parish is a Family Celebrating Faith and an active community of faith-filled people.  We invite you to visit us or choose this sacred place as your spiritual home by joining our parish family.   I encourage you to register and become an active member of our faith community.

In closing, I would like to leave you with this thought.  “Working hard for something we love is called Passion”.   At. St. Symphorosa Parish, may we always be passionate in serving the People of God.    Church is people.  May St. Symphorosa welcome you home.

While I hope this site will be helpful and informative, I look forward to seeing you soon to join with our community in service and worship! Please take a moment after Mass and introduce yourself.   I look forward to meeting you very soon!

Sincerely,

Fr. Idzi Stacherczak

Pastor

My Dear Parishioners and Friends,

As Pastor of St. Symphorosa Parish, I want to welcome you to our website.   Thank you for visiting us!    It is through your presence that  St. Symphorosa Parish is able to provide spiritual nourishment, educational programs, outreach services and rewarding volunteer opportunities.   We would be delighted if you would consider sharing your time and talents with the St. Symphorosa Parish Community.

We are very proud to celebrate our 92nd anniversary and recall our rich parish history.  In 1927, Father J. Leo Sharp established a Roman Catholic Parish on the Southwest Side of Chicago to serve the religious and social needs of the people of the Clearing Neighborhood. The parish he established was designed to be a parish for everyone in the area.  Thus, from its’ very beginning, St. Symphorosa Parish has been, and continues to be, a parish, which prides itself on its’ welcoming spirit.
